Director
ROBIN BANEY
Robin is thrilled to join the St. Charles Early Childhood Education Center as the Director. She is originally from California but has lived in Northern Virginia for 28 years. She and her husband have two sons: One just graduated from UVA, and the other will be an eighth grader at STM Cathedral School. They have been parishioners at Blessed Sacrament for 23 years. Robin has served as a teacher and as a Preschool Director in the Arlington Diocese for twelve years, at both St. Thomas More and St. Ann School in Arlington. She also taught in Alexandria City Public School for four years. Robin holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Elementary Education from Westmont College in Santa Barbara; and a Multi-subject teaching credential from PLNC in San Diego. Robin is especially looking forward to leading at a Christ-centered school specifically geared for young children!
Communications Director
Sara Appleby
Sara has worked in education for six years and is very excited to begin her first year in the front office of St. Charles Early Childhood Education Center. Mrs. Appleby worked in the classroom as a Pre-K and Kindergarten teacher. Along with her full-time job, she currently coaches JV Volleyball at a local high school. She is looking forward to a great year with St. Charles!
Assistant Director
MARGARET LECKEY
Mrs. Margaret Leckey feels fortunate to be actively involved both in the preschool classroom and in the school office of St. Charles. Mrs. Leckey has graduate degrees in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of California at Berkeley, and experience as an editor before coming to St. Charles. Her involvement in her own children’s schools and activities, however, led her to the world of early childhood education, where she is very happy learning and growing alongside the three- and four-year-olds. “I absolutely love this age,” she says of preschoolers. “I am constantly fascinated by these small people with their huge and completely distinct personalities.”
