Angels Lead

Ms. Lewsley was born and raised in Ireland. Ms. Lewsley earned her teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance and Dramatic Arts and spent many years teaching ballet. After emigrating to the United States, she earned her CDA and an International Montessori teaching diploma. She has a passion for working with young children. She has taught in local preschools for nearly 20 years and directs a summer camp in DC.   She also serves as our Assistant Director of Summer Camp.  "It's a joy to see the excitement and creativity that children bring each day and to watch their unlimited capacity to learn and grow in such a warm and caring environment. Every day I learn something new just by being with them."  Ms. Lewsley has one son.

Angels Assistant

This is Ms. Carmela's seventh year working as a teaching assistant here at St. Charles.  She has been the assistant in both the Angels and Sunflowers class, and is excited to work with the Junior Kindergarten class this year. She loves the great experience of working with children and helping them learn and grow in a safe and loving environment.

Turtles Lead

5 Morning Class

Mrs. Nande is excited to start her first year as the lead in the Turtles class! She moved to the USA with her husband and children sixteen years ago from India. She went to Catholic school and college. She has a degree in Economics (Honors) from Mumbai University. She obtained her CDA in 2006. She has been teaching for eighteen years, sixteen at St. Philip ECC as lead teacher, and extended day & summer camp director, and two years in Mumbai. She has taught both three and four year olds: "I like teaching this age group as they are so spontaneous in their response and genuine. There's a lot one can learn from them." She has two sons; one is an Engineer and the other a Scientist. She is looking forward to a great school year and working with Mrs. Fry again after a gap of almost eleven years!

Turtles Assistant

5 Morning Class

This is Mrs. Pesce‘s first year at St. Charles, but her 25th year in Catholic early childhood education. Mrs. Pesce worked for twenty-four years at St. Philip ECC in Falls Church. She is originally from France and moved to the area when she met her husband of 35 years here. She has one son who lives in Paris and she just learned she is going to be a grandma in February. She loves to travel, scrapbook, and walk her dog, but mostly she loves to have fun and sing and dance in the classroom with the kids and teach them some French words and songs. She is delighted to be working with Mrs. Nande again. She was Mrs. Nande's assistant at St. Philip for the last 3 years and they were a great team.

Sunflowers Lead

5 Day Class

Ms. Egan is excited to begin her fourth year at St. Charles! She was raised in Arlington and is so happy to be teaching in the same Diocese where she was a student. Ms. Egan earned her Bachelor’s Degree from East Carolina University in Family Community Services with a concentration in Early Childhood Intervention. She then worked for the University in their Child Development Lab developing and implementing a new curriculum. Ms. Egan is truly in her element working with preschool children and can’t wait for a great year with her Sunflowers!

Sunflowers Assistant

5 Day Class

Ms. Ma is a long time teacher's assistant at St. Charles and mother to an alum. She is looking forward to working with four-year-olds in the Sunflower class.  Ms. Ma loves the great experience of working with children and helping them learn and grow effectively in a safe and loving environment and is very grateful for the opportunity.

Jellyfish Lead

5 Day Class

Ms. Rachel is very excited to be teaching the Jellyfish class this year! Having moved from Naples, Florida, this is her third year at St. Charles and her fourth year teaching preschool. Ms. Rachel earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from The College of Charleston.  She developed a love for preschool aged children over the years of working in schools and as a nanny. Ms. Rachel couldn’t be happier to be working with our newest four-year-old class this year!

Jellyfish Assistant

5 Day Class

Mrs. Quintero is so excited to start a new chapter in her preschool teaching career at St. Charles after working as a Pre-K assistant teacher at St. Philip ECC (Formerly Corpus Christi School) for 23 years. She loves teaching Spanish, doing arts and crafts, and playing games. She helps children learn in a safe, fun and welcoming environment. Mrs. Quintero has a bachelor’s degree in Economics, but after moving to the United States and having her two daughters, along with her love for children, she changed her path in life and started to work with children and she loves it!

Happy Frogs/Happy Apples Lead

2 Morning/3 Morning Class

Ms. Iriarte has spent many years teaching in the Happy Apples/Frogs classroom. She began as an assistant in the Busy Bees class, while earning her CDA.  It is a joy for her to lead the 3-day and 2-day three-year-olds. She has two daughters, both of whom are St. Charles graduates.

Happy Apples Assistant

3 Morning Class

Ms. Greta is looking forward to starting her first year at St. Charles with Ms. Iriarte and the Happy Frogs & Happy Apples.  Ms. Greta graduated with a Bachelors in Hospitality Administration from Boston University and is really excited to pursue her Masters in Early Childhood Education this year.  She loves hiking, cooking a delicious dinner, crafting mosaics and reading a great mystery.

Ms. Katerina is excited to start her first year as the assistant in the Happy Frogs class after assisting with aftercare at St. Charles.

Beautiful Butterflies Lead

5 Morning Class

Mrs. Leckey is married with two wonderful daughters, both in college and both graduates of St. Charles. It is through her involvement and volunteer work in her children’s activities and schools that Mrs. Leckey entered the fun world of early childhood education. She taught science at another Arlington preschool for several years before coming to the Butterfly class when St. Charles first introduced the three-year-old program in 2007. She has been in the Butterfly classroom ever since, now in her fourteenth year. “I feel the spirit of St. Charles most,” Mrs. Leckey says, “when I am laughing out loud with the happy three-year-olds.”

Beautiful Butterflies Assistant

5 Morning Class

Ms. Chiari is in her fourteenth year as the assistant in the Butterfly class.  She previously worked in a Montessori program, but St. Charles Preschool was blessed by her decision to come work with our children. Ms. Chiari has also been a teacher for the preschool summer camp for the past few years. She has three children, two of whom are graduates of St. Charles School.

Busy Bees Lead

5 Day Class

Ms. Megan is thrilled to be back with the St. Charles family as the Busy Bees teacher again this year. She loves the liveliness and curiosity of three-year olds. When not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling along the Eastern Seaboard, cross-stitching, and learning American Sign Language. Ms. Megan received her BA from Wake Forest University and her M.Ed Early Childhood Special Education program from George Mason University.

Ms. Amber is excited to start her second year as the assistant in the Busy Bees classroom. She loves working with the three-year-olds and is looking forward to another great school year.

Dragonflies Lead

5 Day Class

Ms. Hames is new to St. Charles and is looking forward to a wonderful year!  Working with children has always been a passion; she enjoys creating a caring and loving environment in which children can flourish. She previously taught at St. Philip ECC. Ms. Hames was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia with 9 other siblings. Valuable lessons learned from having siblings: to be patient, to share, to work as a team, to forgive, and to challenge yourself. When Ms. Hames is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her daughter Kayla, reading, going to concerts, creating, and the great outdoors!

Dragonflies Assistant

5 Day Class

Mrs. Doris Medina started working as an assistant teacher in 2011 at Corpus Christi Catholic Preschool in Falls Church. She worked with the four-year-olds and in extended day for nine years. This year is her first at St. Charles as the Dragonflies assistant. Mrs. Medina is originally from Venezuela and moved to Virginia in 2005. She is married and has three sons, and a grandson who was a student at St. Philip ECC. Mrs. Medina credits her passion for teaching to her Mom who was a teacher and has two sisters that are teachers too. She grew up loving school and teaching. She remembers at a very young age spending time playing teacher with her sister. Working at Catholic schools has been a blessing from God! Mrs. Medina speaks Spanish and enjoys teaching Spanish to the students. She loves country music, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.

Owls/Penguins Lead

This is Ms. Tiffany's third year at St. Charles, and she is tremendously excited to work in such a warm and caring community. She is originally from Connecticut. Ms. Tiffany has been teaching for over a decade in both preschool and elementary classrooms in the DC area. She loves working with preschool-age children more than any other age because their curiosity and enthusiasm are infectious! In her spare time, Ms. Tiffany enjoys reading, walking her dog, Buddy, talking about movies, playing the violin, and trying out new restaurants with her husband, Sean.

Ms. Juana is excited to start her second year as the assistant in the Owls and Penguins classroom. She loves working with the two-year-olds and is looking forward to another great school year.

Hummingbirds Lead

5 Day Class

Ms. Aimee is delighted to be the lead teacher for the Hummingbird class. This is her ninth year teaching. Ms. Aimee studied graphic design and early childhood education and since then has enjoyed infusing creativity and the arts into education. Previously, Ms. Aimee designed and implemented the arts afterschool program for an international charter school in D.C. She has been involved with the local children’s theatre, Encore Stage & Studio in Arlington, since 2012 as a teaching artist and as graphic illustrator. Ms. Aimee loves to spend time with her puppies, read, paint and travel. Some of her favorite places she has traveled to include The Philippines, Singapore, London and El Salvador. She is ecstatic to share her passion for early childhood education in a holy and sacred environment.

Hummingbirds Assistant

5 Day Class

Ms. Skarlet is thrilled to be the assistant teacher for the Hummingbird class. This is her first year at St. Charles. Skarlet is currently enrolled in NOVA studying psychology and plans to transfer to George Mason University to earn her bacholers in psychology. Skarlet has gone to Catholic school since first grade and graduated from Bishop O’Connell High School in 2019. She loves that she can be a part of setting a foundation of faith to children. In her free time Skarlet likes to bake, go to museums, and do fun activities with her three siblings.

Ducklings Lead

5 Day Class

Ms. Katie is originally from Montgomery County, MD. She graduated with her BA in linguistics from UMBC in Baltimore, received both her Early Childhood certificate and Early Childhood Career Studies certificate from NOVA, and currently attends graduate school at Marymount! This is her fifth year at St. Charles working with the two year olds. Outside of school, she loves to hike, read, and cook.

Ducklings Assistant

5 Day Class

Ms. Kim is originally from Vietnam, and came to the United States in March of 1998.  She has one son (who graduated from St. Charles).  She has 17 years of experience working with children of all ages.  She began working at St. Charles School in the Extended Day program in 2006 and we are delighted to have her continue with us in our preschool program.  She loves working with children because "they bring me a lot of love, peace, laughter, joy and happiness."
