Ms. Lewsley was born and raised in Ireland. Ms. Lewsley earned her teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance and Dramatic Arts and spent many years teaching ballet. After emigrating to the United States, she earned her CDA and an International Montessori teaching diploma. She has a passion for working with young children. She has taught in local preschools for nearly 20 years and directs a summer camp in DC. She also serves as our Assistant Director of Summer Camp. "It's a joy to see the excitement and creativity that children bring each day and to watch their unlimited capacity to learn and grow in such a warm and caring environment. Every day I learn something new just by being with them." Ms. Lewsley has one son.
Mr. Stephen is starting his second year at Saint Charles with the Angels class. He is originally from Fairfax, VA. Previously he worked at St. Agnes Preschool Extended Day while studying at both Northern Virginia Community College (where he earned his Associates in Early Childhood Education in 2013) and Liberty University (where he earned his Bachelors in the same field in 2018). Outside of work and studies, he likes to read, draw, and bowl. He is also an active member of the church community at Saint Luke's in McLean, VA.
Mrs. Wilson is thrilled to join the staff at St. Charles and to be in the Angel classroom this year. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Boston College and her Master’s in Teaching from the University of Virginia. Mrs. Wilson taught Kindergarten and in special education in public school before teaching for three years in the Arlington Diocese. She is entering her eighth year of teaching. Mrs. Wilson will also be working as the Director of Religious Education at St. Charles. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Wilson loves to hike, cook, and spend time with her family.
4 Year Old Program
Ms. Egan is excited to begin her third year at St. Charles! She was raised in Arlington and is so happy to be teaching in the same Diocese where she was a student. Ms. Egan earned her Bachelor’s Degree from East Carolina University in Family Community Services with a concentration in Early Childhood Intervention. She then worked for the University in their Child Development Lab developing and implementing a new curriculum. Ms. Egan is truly in her element working with preschool children and can’t wait for another great year with her Turtles!
Ms. Emmi is excited to bring her years of experience to our Sunflower class. She received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Shenandoah University and her master's degree in Art Education from the Corcoran College of Art+Design. She taught art, Pk-8th grade, for DC public schools for three years. She also taught art and music for the Meridian Homeschool Club (Pk- 8th grade) for 2 years. Ms. Emmi is excited to begin her third year at St. Charles.
Ms. Rachel is very excited to be teaching the Jellyfish class this year! Having moved from Naples, Florida, this is her second year at St. Charles and her third year teaching preschool. Ms. Rachel earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from The College of Charleston. She developed a love for preschool aged children over the years of working in schools and as a nanny. Ms. Rachel couldn’t be happier to be working with our newest four-year-old class this year!
Mr. Gilbert is looking forward to leading the Ladybugs class this year and will be starting his second year at St. Charles. He grew up in Germany, Japan, and Thailand, then moved to Springfield when he was 12 and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 2013. He attended a Catholic Seminary in Columbus, Ohio for two and a half years and received his fourth degree in the Knights of Columbus before leaving to discern a different vocation. Mr. Gilbert received a BA in Humanities from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota in 2018. He completed his Level 1 Certification for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in the summer of 2018 and will be assisting in the Atrium again this year. Mr. Gilbert is an Eagle Scout and loves to hike, cook and write.
Ms. Ma is a long time teacher's assistant at St. Charles and mother to an alum. She is looking forward to working with four-year-olds in the Turtle class. Ms. Ma loves the great experience of working with children and helping them learn and grow effectively in a safe and loving environment and is very grateful for the opportunity.
This is Ms. Carmela's fifth year working as a teaching assistant here at St. Charles. She loves the great experience of working with children and helping them learn and grow in a safe and loving environment.
Ms. Regi was born and raised in Guatemala where she grew up in a Catholic family. She found her passion in early child education from her younger sister with Down syndrome and with the birth of her daughter, who joined St. Charles Preschool in 2018. Ms. Regi and her husband have lived in Arlington since 2011. She has volunteered at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. She holds a Master’s degree in project management and has served in environmental education to rural households with Catholic Relief Services. Ms. Regi loves nature, community service, dogs and is a marathon runner. She is serving as the assistant in the Jellyfish class this year.
3 Year Old Program
Happy Apples/Happy Frogs Co-Lead
Ms. Iriarte has spent many years teaching in the Happy Apples/Frogs classroom. She began as an assistant in the Busy Bees class, while earning her CDA. It is a joy for her to lead the 3-day and 2-day three-year-olds. She has two daughters, both of whom are St. Charles graduates.
Mrs. Leckey is married with two wonderful daughters, both in college and both graduates of St. Charles. It is through her involvement and volunteer work in her children’s activities and schools that Mrs. Leckey entered the fun world of early childhood education. She taught science at another Arlington preschool for several years before coming to the Butterfly class when St. Charles first introduced the three-year-old program in 2007. She has been in the Butterfly classroom ever since, now in her thirteenth year. “I feel the spirit of St. Charles most,” Mrs. Leckey says, “when I am laughing out loud with the happy three-year-olds.”
Busy Bees Lead
Ms. Megan is thrilled to be back with St. Charles family as the Busy Bees teacher again this year. She loves the liveliness and curiosity of three-year olds. When not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling along the Eastern Seaboard, cross-stitching, and learning American Sign Language. Ms. Megan received her BA from Wake Forest University and her M.Ed Early Childhood Special Education program from George Mason University.
Happy Apples/Happy Frogs Co-Lead
Ms. Kate is starting her fourth year here at St. Charles. She has worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant as well as a STEM summer camp teacher. She is the mother of two and the aunt of a St. Charles graduate.
Ms. Chiari is in her twelth year as the assistant in the Butterfly class. She previously worked in a Montessori program, but St. Charles Preschool was blessed by her decision to come work with our children. Ms. Chiari has also been a teacher for the preschool summer camp for the past few years. She has three children, two of whom are graduates of St. Charles School.
Busy Bees Assistant
Ms. Maria is excited to start her third year at St. Charles! She has twenty years of childcare experience, including the Arlington County after-school program. Ms. Maria graduated to earn her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education at NOVA. Currently she is taking courses in child psychology. A native of Ecuador, she is looking forward to helping all kids thrive at St. Charles.
2 Year Old Program
Ms. Aimee is delighted to be the lead teacher for the Hummingbird class. This is her eighth year teaching. Ms. Aimee studied graphic design and early childhood education and since then has enjoyed infusing creativity and the arts into education. Previously, Ms. Aimee designed and implemented the arts afterschool program for an international charter school in D.C. She has been involved with the local children’s theatre, Encore Stage & Studio in Arlington, since 2012 as a teaching artist and as graphic illustrator. Ms. Aimee loves to spend time with her puppies, read, paint and travel. Some of her favorite places she has traveled to include The Philippines, Singapore, London and El Salvador. She is ecstatic to share her passion for early childhood education in a holy and sacred environment.
Ms. Katie is originally from Montgomery County, MD. She graduated with her BA in linguistics from UMBC in Baltimore, received both her Early Childhood certificate and Early Childhood Career Studies certificate from NOVA, and is hoping to start graduate school this January! This is her second year at St. Charles working with the two year olds. Outside of school, she loves to hike, read, and cook.
This is Ms. Tiffany's second year at St. Charles, and she is tremendously excited to work in such a warm and caring community. She is originally from Connecticut. Ms. Tiffany has been teaching for over a decade in both preschool and elementary classrooms in the DC area. She loves working with preschool-age children more than any other age because their curiosity and enthusiasm are infectious! In her spare time, Ms. Tiffany enjoys reading, walking her dog, Buddy, talking about movies, playing the violin, and trying out new restaurants with her husband, Sean.
Ms. MC is excited to be the assistant teacher for the Hummingbird class! This is her second year at St. Charles. Outside of nurturning and educating students, Ms. MC enjoys trying new receipes, creating art and spending time with her loved ones including Paco, her nine-year-old Chihuahua. In the near future, Ms. MC hopes to enroll in NOVA's Early Childhood Development Program.
Ms. Kim is originally from Vietnam, and came to the United States in March of 1998. She has one son (who graduated from St. Charles). She has 17 years of experience working with children of all ages. She began working at St. Charles School in the Extended Day program in 2006 and we are delighted to have her continue with us in our preschool program. She loves working with children because "they bring me a lot of love, peace, laughter, joy and happiness."
